Oh gotta tell you ladies what I did last night. I picked up a day shift yesterday at work, got through it. Ran errands in betweeen my night shift. Got back to work, was working in my evening station in the lower bar area. Well we all know I am clumsy sometimes or prone to getting bruises and such.
(long story, sorry)
Well I had just taken an order from some guest and went to take the hostess the menu's. Stepped up the two steps to put them down, turned around and went to step down the step, and my heel caught the top part of the step. My ankle twisted adn turned outwards, popped and I went down on my tuckus. The pain shot up my ankle and leg. It brought me to tears immediately. My guests jumped up to help me up and ask if I was alright. I was like yes, I am alright. Manager made me sit for a few minutes. I asked him to go get me a ace bandage, taht I had my knee brace in my bag, but not a ace bandage, he gladly went and got one. We were sorely understaffed last night. I managed to get through 4 hours of working with it wrapped and very carefully not moving it to the lef tor right, if I did, it shoot a pain up my leg like fire.
I filled out work incident report and came home to have youngest daughter take me to emergency room. I was going to drive, but she wouldn't let me, lol. They took xrays and all that, spent 3 hours there. It wasn't broken, but badly sprained. I tore or pulled alot of tendons around the ankle. My ankle looks like a golf ball on the outer side, lol. They put a very comfortable new type of brace on my foot, it has gel type stuff like the eye patches you use on your eyes. Its on the sides of the ankle brace or foot brace. Then it velcros around leg. Its comfortable and keeps me from moving it sideways.
I got four days off work, to R.E.S.T it. I can't go back til Saturday. Thankfully I only miss Thursday shift. Still sucks. I lost like $50 last night, not being able to close and $100 tomorrow for not being able to work. UGH. They gave me some nice pain killers though and for the inflammation as well. They said it would take like 6 weeks to fully heal.
Funny thing is, I spent 6 hours running errands today, prescriptions, food, other stuff. Now I am pooped and taking a nap for a minute.
Update on ankle, it still hurts like heck. The swelling has went down, but the whole top and bottom hurts. Have to take pain pills daily. Elevate it, and still work on it. I believe I will have to go back in 6weeks, and get a MRI done. I went a follow up appt a week after I sprained the ankle. I tore and riped alot of tendons. Doctor told me to keep the brace on it, when I was very active and to exercise it as well. But if it was still sore and hurt in six weeks that I would need the MRI done. I would have been better off breaking the ankle. UGH. This means potential surgery on the ankle if it doens't heal right. I have bad knees and always thought I would have surgery on them, long before anything else needed surgery. Thats what I get for thinking, lol.
